Places To Visit in Kotgarh – India has many beautiful cities which are famous worldwide, people from all around the globe visit a lot of places in India every year. One such place in India is Kotgarh. Kotgarh is located in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh at an elevation of 1888 m from sea level. Tourists when visit Shimla, always give preference to Kotgarh for a day or two. Kotgarh is a beautiful place and people love to come here. Earlier, Kotgarh was as popular as Shimla because the hills Kotgarh had was never less beautiful than the hills in Shimla, In 1864, when Shimla was declared as the capital city of the British Raj, Kotgarh was already more flourished with beautiful infrastructure, and villagers from the Himalayan region. In the past, an American missionary, Satyanand Strokes sowed apple seeds for the first time which he brought from his native land and brought a revolution in cultivation in Himachal Pradesh.
The place where Sutlej River is ready to meet the Kullu region is always eye- captivating. The weather there throughout the year is cool and covered with mist and infant clouds. Most of the mornings are here covered by little fog and the hills all around the area give it a finishing touch with one side covered with lush green Deodars.
The ancient buildings, the old hospital, St Mary Church, and Gorton Mission School are still running in this region, giving the tourist a patch of ancient times. St Mary Church, the awesome wooden church was built in 1872 and still reminds the tourist today of the bygone era and Gorton Mission School was built in 1843 and is still the same. However, the old hospital has been renovated a few years back.
This place is very friendly to photographers due to the excellent view from Sutlej River during the daytime and when the sunsets, the mesmerizing valleys in the region give another superb view to photographers. The best time to visit Kotgarh is from February to June. There are some great things to do and visit a few amazing places when one comes to Kotgarh:
Through a downhill trek through Deodar woods from Hatu Peak leads to Narkanda peak. Narkanda peak is basically situated on the Hindustan- Tibet Road at an elevation of 2708 m from sea level. Narkanda is marked by the beautiful snow-covered ranges that it has. Very near to Narkanda peak, the ancient temple of Hatu Mata is situated which is also very well- known for the skiing region.
At an elevation of 3400 m, Hatu Peak is located on the outskirts of Kotgarh. It is the second-highest peak in the Shimla district. The roads are maintained well but the roads are not wide enough and barely one car can pass. Till Narkanda, the roads are in good condition and broad which is at a distance of 8 km from the peak and all this way to the peak is worth living. There are beautiful rock-cut shapes and valleys which are really pleasurable to see. At the top, hatu mandir is there where people go to worship. The peak is covered with most of the time throughout the year and as per tourist reviews, every tourist loves to spare time here due to the peaceful charm it spreads all around. The peak also offers a sensational view of the entire great snow- covered Himalayan range.
The area around the lake has nothing, much but the view in this region is beyond imagination. The river flows peacefully and both sides are covered with mesmerizing unique design trees. There is a NAAG DEVTA TEMPLE here in Tanni Jubbar Lake and also an Eco-park. People usually come trekking in this two- to- three kilometers area and visit this temple and eco-park in the Tanni Jubbar lake region.
As the name suggests, Thanedar road is in Thanedar which is very much connected to Kotgarh. Tourists on bikes and cars love to ride along this road and many tourists come through bikes to enjoy rides here as people love to ride bikes in Leh, Ladakh. Most part of the roadside is covered with trees and shrubs.
On the Hindustan- Tibet road, at a height of 2450 m, Fagu is situated. The place is covered with snow mostly and is famous for the lush green swaying grassland.
This temple is located 2 km away from Kotgarh which is basically dedicated to the deity Deota or Deo and has an awesome infrastructure and architect.
